Student Wellbeing
Student Wellbeing is at the core of what we are about at St. Vincent's Secondary School. We firmly believe that if our students are happy, then everything else will fall into place and academic achievement will flourish.
Therefore we have a number of systems in place that will assist the students with the challenges they face as teenagers but more importantly we teach students how to be responsible for their own wellbeing.
● Amber Flag: promoting positive mental health - we were awarded this flag in
● Free breakfast club and lunches: good nutrition is key to a healthy lifestyle
● Positive Code of Behaviour: We believe in every student’s inherent value as a human being and we place more of an emphasis on what the students do well, and so, reward positive behaviours. We encourage students to recognise and take positive steps towards changing any unhelpful behaviours.
● Academic Monitors: All 3rd and 6th year students have a teacher with whom they will meet on a one-to-one basis throughout the year to check in with them.
● Whole-school charity fundraisers: There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up - John Homes
● Fun events run by the students: Ideas from our students are embraced and welcomed - Feel Good Friday, Mindful Minutes
● Annual Fun Run and Sport’s Day: Two great days at the beginning and end of the year that always lift spirits.
● Student Support: We have a formal system and a team of teachers who are there as a support for students when life becomes particularly challenging.
